Cowboy Bebop live-action film announced
The IFMagazine.com website reported in an interview with film producer Erwin Stoff, who has previously worked on The Matrix and A Scanner Darkly, is developing a live-action adaptation of Sunrise’s Cowboy Bebop for Fox.
In the interview, Stoff said, “I’m really excited to be working on it, and it’s in the really early stages. We just signed it the other day.” He when on to add “I have such an enormous admiration for its creators, that our first and foremost concern is going to be a real degree of faithfulness to the tone of the movie, to the mix of genres, and so on and so forth. When I met with them in Japan, one of the first things that I brought up was the experience that we had on A Scanner Darkly, and how hard we worked to remain faithful to Philip K. Dick, and that was our big concern here.”

Now for my 2 cent. This is either really good news or the latest victim of the anime-to-live action mutilation from Hollywood. Cowboy Bebop was a masterpiece, and it would be a sad day if it gets decimated by the American film industry. This is an example of “just because you can doesn’t mean you should”, something the studios don’t seem to take any notice of in their quest to squeeze every dollar out of their franchises. Then again, Fox could surprise us all and actually produce something of quality. Considering it’s Fox I won’t be holding my breath.

I’ve never watched the series, so if this live action idea goes through I may have to watch the anime. That way, I can join in on all the hate directed towards the film.
I’ve given up on the Dragonball one already. It was one thing to watch cartoon men constipate in mid-air for twenty minutes, but watching real men constipate on the big screen is something entirely different (and far worse).

lol, well this movie might be alright. i mean if you take into account how good they made transformers look, it might well be possible (oh wait thats ghost in the shell) meh anyway i think it might be ok (though maybe if it was like prettied up a little (like cg over the faces XD)
