Strike Witches – Episode 4
Long phallic object… god only knows what she’s thinking
After waiting for some kind of dramatic plot twist or shocking surprise development, I have come to realise that this probably isn’t the best anime to be looking for them. I have resigned to the fact that Strike Witches doesn’t have any semblance of an decent storyline, and its premises is so they can pack as much loli pantsu shots in as humanly possible. With that said… pantsu shots are still good. ^^
Summary
After last week’s emo episode with Lynette’s “I’m afraid of failing and that’s why I fail” attitude, this week we get an emo episode devoted to Gertrud Barkhorn. Her sister fell into a coma during a Neuroi raid of their home town, and Gertrud feels responsible for not protecting her. When Gertrud looks at Yoshika, she is immediately reminded of her sister and it affects her battle performance.
She’s faking it!
How does Yoshika look anything like this clutz?
It also sends her into emo mode, as she makes kamikazes at enemies. Her attitude is to place herself in death inducing situations as some kind of atonement for not saving her sister. Did I mention this anime makes no sense? And she’s suppose to 18 years old or something; one of the more mature members of the unit.
Leeroy Jenkins!!!!
Of course, Yoshika saves the day as always by healing Gertrud, and it brings the entire unit closer together. They really need to find better themes and motifs progress the story.
Never fear, Orihime is here.
On the more domestic sides of things, Yoshika is now the offical a domestic slave. Cooking, cleaning and laundary are now all part of her job description as a military pilot. The Vritannia government is scamping on the labour costs of hiring proper staff, and GONZO is too lazy to come up with more character designs. It’s a win-win situation.
This is child labour
Thoughts
Based on the pattern of this episode and last episode, they are going to continue the episodic exploration of each girl’s background. This is of course an instant 12 episodes of filler material. While this episode wasn’t all that bad, they really need to get back on track to fighting the Neuroi.
Where do they find the time for tea parties?
Even though, the Britannia government is unwilling to pay for proper domestic workers they provide the best in food, tableware, tea-sets etc. Also they feel it’s practical to have a tea party, with the threat of imminent attack. It’s an exorbitant waste of tax payer’s money, while everyone else is striving through difficult times for the war effort.
Francesca is now my favourite character. She’s the embodiment of how lolis should act.
That’s so kawaii~
